This girl is on Tumblr in class with a lot of people sitting behind her.
I’m in the presence of a very brave person…
That’s 25 days until I graduate. Kinda. I walk across the stage and get handed a piece of paper that says I participated in commencement and shake a guys hand who has never seen me before. But it’s more than that. To me at least.
Some people don’t even want to walk, they think it’s a waste of time or whatever. But I have waited 6 years to do this. I have seen some of my best friends do it, and I am so excited that it is finally my time to hear my name name called, walk across that stage, hear (maybe) my family cheering for me, and being done.
I was looking through pictures from my first semester here. It seemed like far more than 4 years ago. This blog was started when I moved up here. I have changed so much, and I am so happy with where I am and who I am. The people I have met here will be people that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The experiences I have had will be with me forever. My time in Reno hasn’t been an easy trail, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Dear 18-year-old me,
1. don’t cut your hair that short again
2. You wouldn’t believe where you end up; The people you meet, the things you do, the major you end up with. You will cry more times than you thought imaginable. You will have your heart broken by someone whom you never thought would. You will find love again. You will lose friends, you will make even better ones. You will learn. You will laugh harder than you ever thought you could. You will be disappointed, let down, crushed. You will find your way back up. You will succeed. And you will walk across that stage as a part of the University of Nevada-Reno, CLASS OF 2014.
Remember all the times that your heart was ripped from your chest?
Disney movies (and others like it) taught us how to love, how to cherish life and how powerful death can be. At a young age, these were very important lessons.
